Balkan Symphonics

Seit 1999 schreibt das Sandy Lopičić Orkestar Musikgeschichte an der Grenze zwischen Balkan, Funk, Jazz, Pop und Klassik.

Aus dem legendären Sandy Lopicic Orkestar, das bis zu seiner Auflösung 2006 mit den Alben „Border Confusion“ und „Balkea“ europaweit für Furore sorgte, wuchs 2007 die zwölfköpfige Formation Sandy Lopicic Superstvar heran – wild, virtuos, unwiderstehlich tanzbar.

Mit Balkan Symphonics erreicht diese Reise nun ihre bislang größte Dimension: Die energiegeladene, multikulturelle Balkan-Band trifft auf das klassische Sinfonieorchester. Traditionelle Lieder aus Bosnien, Serbien, Mazedonien und dem gesamten Balkanraum werden in den kunstvollen Arrangements von Sandy Lopičić und Reinhard Summerer neu erfunden – durchwoben von Jazz und Funk, getragen von der vollen Kraft eines Orchesterklangs.

Since 1999 the Sandy Lopičić Orkestar has been writing music history at the border between Balkan traditions, funk, jazz, pop and classical music.

The journey began with the acclaimed Sandy Lopicic Orkestar — whose albums “Border Confusion” and “Balkea” electrified European audiences until 2006 — leading to the 2007 birth of Sandy Lopicic Superstvar, a twelve-piece ensemble known for its wild, virtuosic, and infectious energy.

This evolution culminates in Balkan Symphonics, a project of unprecedented scale where a vibrant, multicultural band joins forces with a full symphony orchestra. Folk songs from Bosnia, Serbia, Macedonia, and beyond are transformed through the sophisticated arrangements of Sandy Lopičić and Reinhard Summerer, blending jazz and funk with the majestic resonance of an orchestral ensemble.
